How to write a letter stating I intend to give a relative a sum of money from the proceeds of a property sale?

Has to be a formal letter. Also, is it possible to have it made legal and if so, how?
Thanks.
It doesn’t have to be a legal contract but that is a possibility. I’m more looking to know how the letter should be worded.
